That feeling when you are trying to power up your amazing Oculus Quest 2 VR headset but it simply will not turn on. Many users have experienced this before and it can be really frustrating. Not to worry. If your Oculus Quest 2 won’t turn on, we have put together a list of several quick fixes that can help you troubleshoot the problem so you can be on your way to VR gaming again.

Turning on the Oculus Quest 2

To power on your Oculus Quest 2 VR headset, simply press the Power button found on the right side of the device. Press it and hold for at least 3 seconds. Take a look at the LED light found next to the Power button. If it is solid white in color, this means that the VR headset is starting to boot up.  If this normal way does not work for your headset, let’s move on to some more advanced steps.

    Hold Down Power Button

Do a hard reboot. Hold down the Power button for more than 30 seconds and up to 60 seconds until you see that the LED light turns white. There have been many cases in which this method works in rectifying the issue.

Hold Down Power and Volume Down Buttons

If the previous step does not help you troubleshoot the problem, now hold the Power and Volume Down buttons for 20 seconds or more. Make sure to do this simultaneously. Doing this can help launch the boot menu of the VR headset. Then use the volume up and down buttons to navigate to the Exit and Boot Device menu. Make use of the Power button and press it down briefly to confirm this action.

    Charge Oculus Quest 2

Sometimes when the Oculus Quest 2 does not have enough charge or its battery has completely depleted, it will not be able to power up the charging circuit. This may require you to charge it up for several hours to ensure that it gets done the correct way. Plug in the 16 FT USB 3.0 Type C Data Transfer & Charging Cable or place your device in the Mini Magnetic Charging Base, and if there is no red or orange light, charge up your device for at least 2 hours. Once you have it charged up, try booting up the device normally or through the hard reboot process.

    Alternative Charging Cable

If your Oculus Quest 2 is not charging up (see if there is any light), the problem may lie in your charging cable, power outlet, or power adapter. Try using a separate USB cable such as the VR Power  USB-C Cable and see if it works well. If it does not, charge your Oculus Quest 2 at another power outlet. You can also try to charge your device directly from your computer instead of a power adapter. At the same time, you should also charge your

    Factory Reset

If all else fails, we know that it is time for a factory reset. Factory default settings usually help in most cases as you get to work on a blank slate. To do this, hold down both the Power and Volume Down buttons until you see the boot menu. Navigate to the Factory Reset menu and confirm.
